The Hunters 2016 Litter

Mira's job was always fixing things. Fixing a broken leg. Fixing injuries following accidents. Fixing cancer. All of those skills were most important to her, and she had devoted many, many years to honing her skills as a doctor in regards to patching people up. No, more than that. Fixing people. Making them whole again. Erasing the damage brought on by failed missions, bad genes and everyday hazards. One thing she had never been able to fix was a damaged soul. Broken spirits just weren't in her realm of knowledge.

The idea crossed her mind, though. Was there a medical way she could fix a broken spirit? It seemed like there was with all of the developments in medicine and in her own abilities. One thing she could never quite get off her mind was why her brother, one of the kindest people she had ever met, was unable to have children due to injuries his wife sustained early in her life. He'd be a great father, she knew that. Everyone knew that. But how? How could she deliver something that both he and his wife had deemed impossible? That she herself had deemed impossible? She had delivered the bad news decades ago. She wanted to erase that.

I'll just create a way in which they do not need to make a child. I'll make that child for them.

The experiment went far beyond just giving them one child, however. She wasn't sure how well it would work creating babies from small bits of DNA. She wanted to ensure something worked out, so she collected DNA from many of the people closest to her and created, perhaps, the biggest success and mistake in her life.

When it worked - it worked in every instance.

Now she had a problem - what was she going to do with all of these experiments? Many of their parents already had children. All of their parent were already in relationships and certainly wouldn't care to have a child from someone other than their spouse.

Thankfully, she had created more than just children. She had taken the best genetics. The best skills. The best senses. She had been prepared for the experiment working too well in that regard, as they each would prove to bring skill sets that would make them highly desirable in the field of hunting and destroying. Just like many of the people Mira knew, these offspring would become some of the greatest at removing harmful and destructive creatures from the earth.

But who would take them on?

Katana was the experimental child for Mira's brother, Levi, to have a chance at having children. Because Mira didn't know if it would work or not, Mira tried Delci's genes with someone else - if it did work, she could simply find the child another home without Levi ever knowing or needing to care about her. If it didn't work, Levi wouldn't have to get his hopes up for nothing. She knew she needed to test this out before getting Levi involved in the process.

Of course, as soon as Levi heard about what was going on - and when he found out Katana was indeed a success - he couldn't let her go. She was still Delci's, and he wanted her to be theirs. Katana grew up in a loving home from the start and was treated just as though she was Levi's, despite her very vibrant and unnatural colors. If it weren't for that little "flaw", no one would have ever known she wasn't actually his.

Except for the small fact that she also trumps Levi in fighting skills. While Levi is far more relaxed and a bit on the aloof side when it comes to fighting, Katana was a born killer. She quickly picked up on her abilities with her blade and became well known among her siblings as the most skilled and feared. No matter her opponent, Katana always seems to win - or has the intelligence to back down if she knows she cannot.

Her intelligence also makes her good at bringing justice to the right creatures, which is why she specializes in hunting Werewolves. Having some werewolf in her lineage, and living near plenty of them, she knows they can be gentle creatures. However, in the wrong hands or in the wrong environments, she also knows they can get out of control. A werewolf who was not raised right and only knows violence, she knows cannot be tamed. When she can, she tries to tame the beasts. When she cannot, and she knows they are beyond reach, she realizes they cannot be left to damage people's lives any longer.

Some believe she has an entire pack she travels with - a pack of all the beasts she has saved that forever stand by her side for pulling them back to humanity.
